Meet the Farmer: Will Limbert

The Limbert family has been farming Tarloop, Bool Lagoon since the 1930's. Fourth generation farmer Will Limbert, recently returned home to Tarloop to help his father run their family property. With mixed soil types and consistent rainfall, the farm is perfectly suited to cropping and sheep breeding.

Located a short drive south of Naracoorte, the Limbert's farm is situated next to the well-known local attraction, Bool Lagoon Reserve. Visited by over 150 species of birds, including brolgas, this reserve also relies on the reliable seasonal conditions and is one of the largest, most diverse freshwater lagoon systems in southern Australia.

Will is excited to be a part of the Limestone Coast Wool project. 'It is great to know the story of our wool - to have a connection to the local area and to see our product being used in the local area.' The Limbert's wool is clean, strong and white; its higher micron makes it springy and ideal for MiniJumbuk bedding. Will believes it is the high rain fall and consistent seasonal weather in the Limestone Coast that helps to produce plenty of green feed for happy and healthy sheep.

'The area is probably the main reason why our sheep are happy, with the high rainfall and good feed all year round. We've also put up a lot of tree guards to protect them from the wind. So, they're pretty happy sheep on this property that's for sure.'
