The Taste Festival is a fantastic weekend showcasing Naracoorte and featuring what the Limestone Coast has to offer.
It all starts on Friday 6th of Februarywith the Taste Ambrose Golf Day held at the magnificent Naracoorte Golf Club. The event is always a super relaxed day of golf and wine tasting. Great prizes are provided by sponsors MiniJumbuk and DiGiorgio Family wines.
Entry $40, includes BBQ and wine tasting on the course and dinner in the clubhouse after the game.
Registration at 11am for a 12 midday shotgun start.
In the evening on Friday 6th, the Naracoorte North Kindergarten will be sponsoring the Open Air Movies at the Naracoorte Showgrounds. This year the movie is “How to Train your Dragon 2” which is a great family movie that the kids will love. Entry is only $10 for adults and $5 for children. Movie will commence on dark and before the movie starts there will be a jumping castle and face painting. Fun for all the family!
Saturday 7th February is the Taste Festival when Naracoorte comes alive between 11am and 7pm in the Town Squares. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample a wide range of wines from many outstanding regional wineries, and enjoy a superb array of food stalls as they sit back in the shade and enjoy the music and the social atmosphere.
Featured wineries include DiGiorgio Family Wines and Koonara Wines from the Coonawarra, Wangolina Station and Karatta Wines from the Limestone Coast near Robe and Giggling Goose Wine from Padthaway. If wine isn't your thing, then Patrick of Coonawarra will also be showcasing their yummy Applelation cider (as well as their delicious wines) and Robe Town Brewery will have their lovingly crafted beers on offer.
Food wise there is something for everyone, from local favourites including roast meat rolls, gourmet pizza and strawberries and cream, to more adventurous offerings such as goat rendang, pulled pork with Asian slaw rolls and fish tacos. We can't wait to try a macaroon from Mr Macaroon and a potato twist from Twistto. After all this is the Taste Festival!
With music from local bands including 15 Days, Squizzy and the Outlaws and Hoody & Fab, the day is sure to be a good one.
Entry to this super event is only $10 for adults, $5 for Under 18s, and free admission for Under 14s. Souvenir wine glasses available for $5.
Sunday 8th February and the weekend isn't finished yet, our highlight is still to come! First though is the local Limestone Coast farmers and produce market held in the Town Squares with a wide range of fresh products for sale.
We've saved the best until last, the feature event and highlight of the weekend is the MiniJumbuk Naracoorte Cup race meeting, held at the Naracoorte Racing Club. Thousands will flock to the racecourse to enjoy this prestige event, with fashions on the field and the thrill of the race. The feature race of the day is the Naracoorte Cup run over 2000 metres, MiniJumbuk are proud, long term sponsors of this event.
On the day, there'll be a jumping castle, face painter and free ice blocks to keep the kids entertained. Plus lots of food and drink options make for a great day out!
