Why we love Naracoorte!

Why we love Naracoorte!

For 40 years the MiniJumbuk mill has been located in Naracoorte, a thriving and vibrant country town in rural South Australia. This part of South Australia is known as the Limestone coast. The area used to be a sea bed millions of years ago, so it's very flat, making it ideal for pastoralists. As we are located hundreds of kilometres from the capital cities it also means that we have wonderful clean and green pasture for sheep, producing top notch wool for our wool bedding.

The name Naracoorte is believed to be derived from an Aboriginal word meaning “large waterhole”, and this is pretty apt as one of the best spots in Naracoorte is our massive man-made swimming lake. The lake is seven times the size of an Olympic pool, it is right next to the lovely nature park, and even better it's free to use during the summer months.

A major highlight for any visitor to Naracoorte is South Australia's only World Heritage site, the Naracoorte Caves. The caves acted like a time capsule preserving the fossil remains of the last known megafauna that became extinct almost 60,000 years ago. The caves are also one of only two known breeding grounds for the Southern Bent-winged bat.

Naracoorte is very close to the Coonawarra, Wrattonbully and Padthaway wine regions making it a great spot for wine connoisseurs to base themselves whilst exploring this fabulous wine region.

MiniJumbuk also has a Factory Outlet attached to the mill, selling quality wool bedding products at factory direct prices, as well a range of premium sheepskin footwear and a large array of other woollen products. Be sure to pop in and visit us if you are in town as we also have a viewing gallery where you can see into the mill and watch our famous wool bedding being made.

Naracoorte - our town. Welcoming, friendly people with plenty of great things to see and do.
