MiniJumbuk Proudly Chooses South Australia

MiniJumbuk Proudly Chooses South Australia

If you are out and about around Adelaide in the next few weeks, keep your eyes open - there is a new face in town!! Darren Turner, Naracoorte based, Managing Director of South Australia's MiniJumbuk, is proudly putting his support behind Brand South Australia's I Choose SA Campaign. Appearing on Adelaide Metro buses and bus shelters, Darren is raising consumer awareness for the incredible diversity of world class products and services that originate right here in South Australia.

The I Choose SA campaign builds on South Australian pride, encouraging every South Australian to be proactive in sourcing products from our great state. Registered South Australian goods or services are eligible to use the recognisable Brand South Australia logo. The logo is easily identified and enables consumers to make a real difference to South Australia; supporting economic growth, local businesses and jobs for our families, friends and neighbours.

Growing up in Naracoorte, Darren began working at MiniJumbuk as an Assistant Sales Manager in 1983: the same year the business launched its first underblanket, the double-layer MiniJumbuk UnderWool. Today, as Managing Director and a major driver in a company that has become a global leader in the design and innovation of premium wool bedding products, Darren believes

Being part of the MiniJumbuk story is something to be really proud of.

The MiniJumbuk team, comprising 70 employees (mostly in Naracoorte with the remainder in Adelaide) produces nearly 300,000 quilts, mattress toppers and pillow each year: 90% of this is sold interstate and overseas. Even better MiniJumbuk supports South Australian farmers, sourcing over 200 tonnes of its wool from SA wool growers.

Considering the decline in Australian manufacturing over the years, Darren attributes the continued success of MiniJumbuk to its location.

SA you do have an opportunity to stand out a bit more. I find that when you're a bit smaller or you have the odds against you a little bit you have to work harder, think harder, be smarter and you have to work out ways of overcoming challenge. I think this makes a better business; it pushes you and you get better outcomes. If it's all too easy, you don't improve.
