We always recommend airing your mattress topper before first use. This helps to naturally refresh and revitalise the wool fibres after being stored in packaging. No need to wash before use – just let nature do the work!

Fresh Air & Sunshine is Wool’s Best Friend
One of wool’s best caring features, it LOVES fresh air and sunshine, so no need for regular washing. Simply air your mattress topper outside a few times a year on a warm breezy day. This allows moisture and odours to release naturally.
Extra Freshness: Lightly spritz your topper with a little water or MiniJumbuk Wool Spray before airing to help freshen it further and restore the loft to the wool fibres.
Keep it Fluffy
Overtime or after washing the wool pile may change in appearance and the wool may flatten – this is completely normal. Restore the soft, fluffy appearance with a gentle brush across the fleecy surface using a wire pet brush, wide-tooth comb or a vacuum cleaner. Brushing or a quick vacuum will also help to remove any loose fibres.
Cleaning
While we don’t recommend regular washing, our mattress toppers are machine washable. If they need a wash always check the care label before washing or dry cleaning. Wool does not like being over agitated and neither does it like getting too hot.
Machine Washing:
Wool is great at absorbing moisture, it can absorb up to 35% of its weight, keep this in mind when using your home washing machine. Most domestic washing machine’s wool product capacity is smaller than the standard load, so it’s worth checking before washing your mattress topper at home. For larger sizes we recommend using a commercial machine that will comfortably fit without agitation.
• Use a front loader
• 40°C warm water
• Use an approved wool detergent (like MiniJumbuk’s Wool Wash)
Dry Cleaning:
• Ask cleaners to follow the care label
• Choose a member of the Dry Cleaners Institute of Australia
• Some stains (like sweat) may set during dry cleaning.
It’s always good to vacuum your mattress topper every few months to remove dust, skin cells and rejuvenate the wool pile.
To further protect your mattress topper, regularly launder your sheets and consider high quality breathable bedding. Adding a mattress protector is also a great way to extend the life of your mattress and topper.
