Everyone knows that the Coonawarra wine region of the Limestone Coast is famous for its Cabernet wines, but did you know that each year the Coonawarra holds a Cabernet Celebration?

The region's wineries and cellar doors pull out all stops holding many special events over the weekend, from breakfasts with sparkling Cabernet, to late evenings with fine food and aged Coonawarra Cabernets. There are also wine tastings, Q&As with the winemakers and guided walks through the vineyards and wineries. So why not join the celebrations?

There are too many events to list here but some of our favourite wineries holding events are:

DiGiorgio Family Wines
This Italian family winery is holding an Italian inspired event, La Dolce Vita. Margot and Rita DiGigorio's famous homestyle Italian meatballs, with DiGiorgio and Italian wines served alfresco with smooth tunes from talented local musician Ben Hood.

Brands Laira Coonawarra
Held on their lovely lawns Brand's Burgers and Beats is the perfect place for a lazy Cabernet afternoon. Gourmet burgers and music from Keep the Krazy makes for a super chilled and fun afternoon!

Patrick of Coonawarra
Each year Patrick hold their Sparkling & Cider brunch. A glass of their sparkling or one of their Applelation Ciders will get the day off to a grand start. Or if you need to recover they have strong coffee to help get the day into full swing!
(Sunday 19th, 8.30am - 11.30am)

Rymill Coonawarra
Rymill's Cabernet Carnival is a great family fun day, with plenty of entertainment for the kids, lovely Cabernet wines from the cellar and special culinary delights on offer to keep the adults happy.
