October Long Weekend in the Limestone Coast

The Limestone Coast is the perfect destination for these School Holidays. The area has so much to offer from interesting locals and wonderful food to spectacular coastlines and national parks.

There are a number of family-fun events over the October School Holidays. Go along to the Kingston Show on the 5th-6th October, suited for everyone in the family with horse events, show rides and with local produce available. The Robe Farmers Markets are also held on the October Long Weekend, be sure to drop by for the very best seasonal produce and crafts. During the school holidays Naracoorte Art Gallery are holding Clay Dragon classes for all ages. The classes are held on the 9th-10th October, send the kids along and get their creative minds thinking.

There is plenty more to discover along the coast line. With more than 400 kilometres of beaches in the Limestone Coast, the small coastal towns are always a popular spot. Visit Larry the Lobster in Kingston, Robe's beautiful Long Beach or the second longest jetty in South Australia at Beachport. The majority of the waters along the Limestone Coast are great for swimming, fishing or just relaxing making them all a perfect spot for a stop over.

Exploring the inland areas are just as rewarding. The Limestone Coast is home to the renowned Coonawarra wine region, a beautiful 5 kilometre strip, with a variety of wonderful wineries. Be sure to stop at one of the many Farmers markets. These are held on most weekends in various locations around the region.

The Limestone Coast is famous for its spectacular natural beauty. One of the most popular attractions is the World Heritage Listed Naracoorte Caves, home to over 100 fossils and 26 caves. Mount Gambier's Blue Lake offers wonderful natural beauty and a great walking trail. The lake, a crater of an extinct volcano, is renown for its colour change, from somber blue in winter, through to a brilliant deep turquoise in summer.

There is so much to explore these School Holidays in the Limestone Coast from beautiful coastal towns to breaktaking natural beauties, just don't forget to pack your camera.
